How to refer a client
We've designed our referral process to be as straightforward as possible. Here's what to expect from first contact through report delivery.
Submit a referral inquiry
Use our contact form or call us directly to share a brief overview of your client and your referral question. You don't need to have everything figured out — we're happy to consult before you decide whether an evaluation is the right next step.
We'll follow up within five business days
A member of our team will reach out to discuss the referral, confirm fit, and answer any questions you have. If we're not the right fit for your client's needs, we'll do our best to point you in a helpful direction.
Intake and scheduling
Once we've confirmed the referral, we'll reach out directly to your client (or their family) to complete intake paperwork and schedule the evaluation. We keep you informed throughout.
The evaluation
Most evaluations involve one to three testing sessions, depending on the referral question and the individual. Sessions are scheduled at a pace that works for the client. We gather information from multiple sources — clinical interview, standardized testing, rating scales, and records review when relevant.
Report and feedback
We deliver a comprehensive written report within an agreed-upon timeline — typically three to four weeks after testing is complete. We also offer a feedback session with the client and, when appropriate, a separate consultation with you as the referring provider.
Common questions
Who can make a referral?
We accept referrals from licensed mental health providers, pediatricians and primary care physicians, school psychologists and special educators, and other licensed healthcare providers. We do not accept self-referrals at this time.
What geographic area do you serve?
We primarily serve clients in Vermont. In some cases we may be able to accommodate clients from neighboring states — please reach out to discuss.
Do you accept insurance?
We are currently a private-pay practice. We can provide a superbill for clients to submit to their insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Please contact us to discuss fees and payment options.
How long does an evaluation take?
This varies by evaluation type and the individual. Most evaluations involve one to three testing sessions of two to four hours each, plus an intake interview and feedback meeting. We'll give you a clearer timeline once we've discussed the referral question.
Can I consult with you before making a formal referral?
Absolutely. We welcome brief consultations with referring providers to help determine whether an evaluation is appropriate and, if so, what type. Just reach out through our contact form or by phone.
Will I receive a copy of the report?
With appropriate release of information, yes. We routinely share reports with referring providers and welcome a follow-up conversation to discuss findings and recommendations.
